Watch this "jumpy gecko", and know that he is harmless, but probably more frightened of me than me of him. Be careful of grabbing lizards by the tail, because they can constrict blood vessels and eject their tails, only to regrow them once in their lives.
I have been fascinated by cicada's since childhood growing up in Detroit, Michigan. These insects leave behind a shed carapice on trees and walls after coming out of their four year hibernation. These are often eaten in some cultures, but not this guy. He is representative of a healthy ecosystem in my back yard.
Sunflowers are an excellent pollen source for honey bees. Watch this one enjoy the pollen.
